Potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride grey skullcap sodium fluoride is a weak anticoagulant and is usually used in combination with potassium oxalate or sodium ethionate in the ratio of 1 part sodium fluoride to 3 parts potassium oxalate. This mixture of 4mg can make 1ml of blood non-coagulable for 23 days and inhibit sugar breakdown. It cannot be used for urea determination by urease method, nor for alkaline phosphatase and amylase determination, and is recommended for blood glucose testing. It contains sodium fluoride or potassium oxalate or disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA-Na) spray to inhibit enolase activity in glucose metabolism. After drawing blood and mixing upside down 5-8 times, centrifuge and take the supernatant plasma for backup, it is a special tube for rapid glucose determination.
